Early Learning Programs

At Our Place we offer play-based, child-centered learning experiences to support children's holistic development. With a focus on how children learn, the Early Learning Team at Our Place uses a relationship-based approach in all early learning programs. By fostering partnerships with parents and families, Our Place has become a hub of support for our community, creating a sense of belonging for children and their families.

Our Early Learning Team consists of Registered Early Childhood Educators and Early Learning Facilitators who, through reflection and collaboration, develop and design inspiring and engaging environments that foster children's readiness to learn. The Early Learning Team focuses on nurturing children's communication and all forms of expression, while simultaneously nurturing meaningful relationship building. At Our Place we celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of every child, and this is a cornerstone of our strength-based, emergent approach to early learning.

Our inclusive and inquiry-based curriculum engages children's sense of wonder and exploration, and supports children's developing sense of belonging and well-being. The Early Learning team advocates for the rights of all children, and works closely with families in supporting their children through active collaboration. Our Registered Early Childhood Educators are available for families to consult on early learning, transition to school, child development, early identification and screening, community resources and referrals.

Children's learning at Our Place is documented, and examples of documented learning can be seen throughout the centre. Documented learning illustrates the developing interests and skills children explore through play and interaction. Understanding how children learn provides insight into how competent and capable children are, and how meaningful parent/caregiver engagement is to their learning and development.

ADULTS

Monthly calendars are posted each month. We offer a variety of programs for both parents and children. Some of these programs are offered as a 'together' time with both parents and children participating at the same time such as Drop In Playtime, Music and Movement and Fit Kids.

Parent Education programs offered include a variety of speakers, talking on various parenting and family life issues, for our Speaker Series morning. Peer Worker facilitated programs offer opportunities to learn how to build healthy families through peer support and nutrition education. We offer Early Learning programs for the children of adults participating in parenting programs.

Family and Child Development Support is also provided in the following areas here at our centre as well, services such as the Breastfeeding Buddies, Zero2Six, Vision Screening and Kidsability Speech and Language support are here to help parents deal with any issues they may have regarding parenting their children as well as addressing concerns of their child's development.

Registration  is required for some of these programs, you can do this in person or by phone. Registration is indicated for each individual program on the monthly calendar.

There are a variety of ways to participate in programs at Our Place...

Registered Programs

We have weekly or monthly registration times. The length of the program will determine registration frequency.

Drop In Programs

These programs are on a 'first come, first serve' basis. Some of the Drop In programs have limited space in the room. These programs can be parent/child interactive, such as, 'Artastic' or 'Baby Blanket Time' while others are parent focused or child child centred. An example would be the 'Early Learning Programs' for children.
